Princess parties have becomes
a lovely opportunity to make a little girl feel like royalty.
But how do you entertain her guests to ensure everyone has
a wonderful time? The following is a compilation of ideas from
many sources to make this day a special event for everyone!
Invitations:
To make your own invitations, pick a royal theme based on
your party. Basic shapes such as star (for a sea-star), a shoe
shape (to simulate a slipper), a rose (Beauty and the beast),
you can use colored construction paper, write the party details
with a silver or gold gel pen, and decorate each invitation
bows or with lots of glitter for a royal look!
You can also use scroll stationary paper, write your party
details using calligraphy handwriting font on your computer,
and give your invitation a royal tone: "Your royal heiresses:
Princess of the house of " has
the honor to invite you to her birthday ball ...". Roll
each invitation and tie each one with a gold ribbon for instant
glamour.
Want to save time? You can use invitations featuring the Disney
Princess theme your princess has chosen
Home Decorations:
Streamers and balloons will always give your
home a festive and cheerful look! Combine these with motifs
of your theme.
Display a perfect little slipper (Cinderella)
on top of a pretty pillow
Dress up little cardboard boxes with velvet
or rich velour and place pretty jewelry inside for your
guests (they can each take these as souvenirs at the end of
the party). A large cardboard box can be used as the royal
chest, fill with gold paper, gold coins and costume jewelry
and sparkly items.
Make a "throne" for your birthday princess and
decorate with lace, tulle, flowers, streamers balloons, and
a fancy pillow. You can also cut out a throne shape out of
cardboard and paint it in gold color then attach it to the
back of the chair
Cut out stars from construction paper, glue
silver or gold glitter and hang on different places from the
ceiling or tape temporarily to the wall for a very sparkly
look.
Drapes can be used to create a lovely frame
for the throne of your princess.
A pretty table cloth, napkins, plates with your
favorite characters will compliment the entire look.
Games
Games for princess parties can be done by taking
the favorite children games while adopting them to the royal
theme to the party, some ideas are:
A message from the Princess:
Allow the Princess to send a message to her King or Queen (this
can be a parent). Seat all your guests in a circle. The princess
thinks of the message that she would like to send to her king
or queen, she starts to whispers to the person next to her.
The person that gets the message then tells the message to
the next person in the circle and so on until the message reaches
the last person in the circle (the King or Queen). The king
or queen then says the message out loud and then the princess
is allowed to tell the original message. This is a fun game
as some unexpected changes may happen during the transfer
Pass the magical slipper. The
kids sit down in a circle and they pass a plastic Cinderella
slipper around while some music plays on, then suddenly turn
the music off and who ever has the slipper is out of the game.
Color my princess or decorate
my crown: Provide a child with a coloring paper with
a princess/prince character and let them color them, or cut
crown templates out of gold construction paper and allow
the kids to decorate their own crown, this pastime is excellent
during the time other children are arriving to keep them
entertain while the guests are still arriving.
Find the Magical Dragon
eggs: Explained that the dragon came to the castle
and laid his enchanted eggs (you can use easter eggs) and
each princess has to find a dragon egg as they have treasures
before they hatched. Fill the eggs with goodies, candy, jewelry,
make-up.
Pin the slipper to Cinderella
or pin the tail on Flounder. Kids are blindfolded,
and asked to pin the slipper on Cinderella's foot or the
tail on flounder
What's my name? Before
the party download pictures of princesses and princes onto
separate sheets, tape these to each kids back. The object
of the game is to discover who the figure on the back is by
giving the other kids clues such as: "I live underwater", "I
whistle while I work", "I had a long dream" etc.
The fairy says. Same
as "Simon says"
Princess party recipes
Children are usually very entertained and busy
playing and getting to know each other so the best food ideas
for a princess party are finger foods. They are easy, light
and work beautifully during these parties.
For all girl parties, think tea-party. Small
sandwiches (PB&J's), grilled cheese, pigs in a blanket
work very nice. To give them a dainty feminine look used pretty
cookie cutters in floral or star shapes for pretty forms.
Small hot dogs and mini-burgers are great for
co-ed parties
For sweets: Rice-crispies bites, mini muffins,
little tarts, strawberry and cherries dipped in chocolate are
delightful and a sure hit for children and parents too.
Use sparkling bottles and fill them regular
apple juice and serve your guests as champagne.
A beautiful cake and ice-cream on the side will
compliment your royal dinner beautifully.
If you allow each child to create or decorate
their own crown let them keep it.
Souvenir bags filled with children make-up
and real wearable jewelry are great treat for little girls.
Fun stickers with color books are a wonderful
way to remember the party.
Most important allow your princess to be part of
the entire event. Talk to her about all the details and let her
get involved with her ideas, most of the time the best ideas
will come from her.
